WaterLinks is a regional network that helps build the capacity of water and wastewater utilities in Asia in order to help them increase and improve access to safe water and basic sanitation. WaterLinks develops and implements four principal activities, each of which draws on a range of partner resources and capabilities to achieve tangible results in terms of expanded or improved access to safe water and sanitation and increased capacity.

  • Water Operator Partnerships (WOPs): WOPs provide water operators that require mentorship on specific technical topics with the guidance of experienced and high-performing peers. Partnership activities include peer review, technical assistance in developing and implementing improved policies and practices, specialized on-the-job training, technology demonstrations and information exchange.
  • Regional Trainings: WaterLinks supports regional capacity building of Asian water and wastewater operators through the development and implementation of training programs on technical and management topics.
  • Applied Research: To help water operators understand why and how to improve certain services, WaterLinks development partners develop research, assessments, toolkits and guidelines on specific technical topics.
  • Information Sharing and Networking: To disseminate good practices, WaterLinks organizes regional networking events, including the Annual WaterLinks Forum, to share partnership results and facilitate new partnerships.
